Factor investing is gaining momentum in the ETF industry. There are numerous offerings focusing on a broad array of factors that can be added to your portfolio. One specific factor gaining significant interest is the Quality Factor. Christopher Huemmer , Senior Strategist at FlexShares, John O’Connor, President and CIO of 3D Asset Management and Sam Turner, Director of Equities at Riverfront Investments will discuss the implementation of the Quality factor in portfolios.

   Christopher Huemmer
   
Senior Investment Strategist
   FlexShares


Christopher Huemmer is Senior Vice President and Senior Investment Strategist for FlexShares Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). He is responsible for equity strategy and provides equity product development, investment strategy and related ETF product expertise to the team.

Christopher serves as the catalyst and conduit for turning Northern Trust Asset Management’s investment thought leadership into successful ETF products. He levers the firm’s portfolio management and construction skill sets and engages with client-facing partners to identify and develop innovative ETF investment strategies.

Prior to being named Senior Investment Strategist for ETFs, Christopher worked at Zacks Investment Research for 12 years, where he served as Director of Index Services, focusing on quantitative index strategies to be replicated in ETFs as well as other structured products.

Christopher received a BS degree from Cornell University and is a CFA charterholder. He is a member of the CFA Society of Chicago and the CFA Institute.
 

 




   John O'Connor
   
President & CIO
   3D Asset Management


As President and CIO of 3D Asset Management, Mr. O'Connor oversees a team of seasoned professionals who provide advisors with turnkey solutions for their retirement income, wealth accumulation and retirement plan practices. A baby-boomer himself, John is especially proud of WealthConductor™, 3D's innovative program and platform that is changing the retirement income planning and management segment of the industry.

John co-founded 3D Asset Management in 2006 specifically to provide advisors, RIAs and independent BDs cost-effective investment solutions and value-added practice management programs. 3D is an ETF strategist managing global asset allocation portfolios and target date strategies on several platforms, in collective trusts and through its own TAMP. He began his career in early 1982 with a regional BD based in Connecticut filling roles in the back-office, marketing, product management and as an on-the-road wholesaler. In 1989 John joined GR Phelps & Co., the BD subsidiary of Connecticut Mutual Life and was president of the subsidiary when CML merged with MassMutual. In 1998 John started an RIA and BD for a large retirement plan administrator and actuarial firm in the Northeast. He managed these entities, focused on the ERISA markets, until leaving in early 2006 to open the doors at 3D.

John graduated with a BA in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut and an MBA in investment finance from the University of Hartford. During his tenure in the broker dealer segment of the industry John was a member of several national boards and committees of FPA and FSI. He is currently a member of the Board of Managers of the East Hartford YMCA, Treasurer of South Windsor Cultural Arts and an active Rotarian.
 

 




   Sam Turner
   
Director of US Equities
   Riverfront Investment Group


Sam serves as Director of US Equity with over 15 years experience managing equity portfolios.

Prior to launching RiverFront, Sam served as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Wachovia Securities, where he was responsible for the management of large cap equity funds within the Advisory Services Group (ASG). Sam was also actively involved with Wachovia Securities' advice team, publishing weekly reports and contributing to the firm's tactical asset allocation decisions. He originally joined Wachovia Securities in 1996 as an analyst for ASG, internal asset management arm of the firm, primarily focusing on the Mentor Strategy Fund.

Sam earned his BA in Business Administration from James Madison University. He received the Chartered Market Technician designation in 2007.
